A World Tick Pageant, a craft blood bar, tick ghost stories, tick dating apps? TiCK TiCK TiCK TiCK, written by award-winning children’s book author and poet, Pegi Deitz Shea, aims to lift the spirits of tick-borne disease sufferers and their caregivers. She will give a presentation on Saturday, May 30, 10:30 a.m. at Chaplin Library, 130 Chaplin Street, Chaplin. CT.
Plagued by relapsing Lyme disease for decades and currently suffering from a second Covid-triggered relapse, Shea sat down to write a revenge book on ticks. Then her inner Robin Williams let loose a hybrid of poems and short prose forms, followed by an emotional rollercoaster of her journey of illness. Her presentation combines readings of some of the pieces with slides of various species, tick anatomies, and pointers on how to avoid ticks and deal with illness.
