Alicia Suskin Ostriker is a two-time finalist for the National Book Award in Poetry, Chancellor of the American Academy of Poets, as well as a feminist and Biblical scholar and literary critic. Her numerous books examine topics ranging from motherhood to politics to nature. Shea, a former Rutgers student and mentee of Ostriker, was Vernon's Inaugural Poet Laureate in 2019 and directs the series Poetry Rocks at Arts Center East. She is the author of more than 500 works of nonfiction, fiction, and poetry for readers of all ages.
